The Webb Ellis Cup, also referred to as “Bill”, is the main prize of the Rugby World Cup. The trophy is named after William Webb Ellis, who is often credited as the inventor of rugby football.

The trophy has been presented to the winner of the world cup since the first competition in 1987. It has been held by New Zealand, Australia (2), South Africa (2) and England.

The Rugby World Cup (RWC) Sevens Tournament will be held next in Dubai on March 5th through 7th, 2009. Fiji are the defending champions from 2005.
