A good effort by Scotland, with them leading at the half, fell short in their Round 4 match against Ireland. Scotland lost 22 – 15, which keeps Ireland’s hopes for a Grand Slam alive and well.

Any doubt that all Scots are patriots?

Excellent adverts from Famous Grouse: this one is “Behind Scottish Rugby”

Not a great day for Scotland A as Ireland A ran out 35 – 10 winners. This clip shows you the highlights (or lowlights if you are a Scots fan):

One of several amusing adverts that can be seen on Welsh TV regarding Wales’ opponents in the Six Nations. Does everyone in Wales think like this?

Scotland’s Simon Webster and Geoff Cross put on a tackling clinic against Wales at Murrayfield in Round 1 of the RBS Six Nations. Both suffered head injuries executing dangerous and ill-timed tackles, very poorly. Hopefully they have learned something.

More video highlights for you from the RBS Six Nations Round 2 clash between France and Scotland:

A brilliant Scots try from a rolling maul. An old-school move that went 22 metres for a great try.

The 2009 RBS Six Nations Championship begins on 7 February, and it’s time to take a look at how the teams are shaping up.

Next up: Wales v Scotland at Murrayfield.

Prediction: Wales

wruWales, having won the 2008 Grand Slam under coach Warren Gatland, come into this year’s Six Nations tournament as favorites to win again. Another Grand Slam may be too much to ask, but they come in strong having beaten Australia in the Autumn Tests. The squad boasts some 299 Six Nations caps. Player to watch: Shane Williams, the 2008 IRB Player of the Year.

scoIt is sometimes hard to know which Scotland team will be showing up when they take the pitch; a sluggish, rudderless band devoid of ideas or an inspired team throwing caution to the wind. Based on recent form, it seems more likely that coach Frank Hadden will be arriving with the former group. They are playing at home, but with Chris Paterson, their only real points scorer,  out, the squad will be in some difficulty boasting only 275 Six Nations caps and 108 total career Six Nations points. Player to watch: Chris Cusiter, a player on the move.

When Scotland plays at Murrayfield, The Flower of Scotland will be sung. Even more enthusiastically prior to a Calcutta Cup match.

All good challenges should be met with a good reply. This is a unique Scots reply to the Haka.
